The third edition of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Sailing Regatta 2026 concluded at Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).

Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, Commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) and Commodore of the EME Sailing Association (EMESA), presided over the closing ceremony.

Addressing participants and guests, Lt. Gen. Varshney stated that the regatta was conceived to revive and strengthen sailing as a competitive sport within the Corps of EME and to create a broad pool of skilled sailors capable of competing at the national, Asian, and Olympic levels. He lauded the enthusiastic participation of personnel from various ranks, particularly the Agniveers, noting that many had displayed remarkable aptitude by mastering the sport within just two to three weeks.

“The regatta would serve as a stepping stone for sailors aspiring to participate in major events such as the ILCA Open Sailing Competition and Hyderabad Sailing Week,” he added.

In the ILCA-6 category, Agniveer Patil Anuraj secured first place, while Sepoy Mahesh finished second and Agniveer Patil Siddhesh claimed third position. In the ILCA-7 category, Agniveer Harsh Tiwari emerged as the champion, with Lieutenant Colonel Mayank Srivastav finishing second and Major Lanka Kiran securing third place. Southern Command was awarded the overall championship trophy.
