U.S. software solutions provider Blackbaud — whose focus is on the non-profit sector and had in November, 2025, formally opened its India office in Hyderabad — plans to expand its footprint in the city with a second office in the Financial District.
“We’re now about 700 people at HITEC City and set to launch our new site in the Financial District soon. Over the next 12-18 months, between the two sites, we expect to have a headcount of 1,000 people, if not more, driving a lot of our global work out of India,” said Rajiv Gajria, vice president and managing director of Blackbaud India.
While the immediate focus is on strengthening its India capabilities, the company would also like to evaluate the country as a potential market for its products. “There is a lot of opportunity here. But for now, the focus is on building capabilities in India,” he said in an interaction recently.
Blackbaud narrowed down on Hyderabad for its India centre. “India is not an outpost for execution or just an offshore services setup. We are a full stack capability centre. Teams [here] are engaged in product development and management, product roadmap planning, customer operations, professional services and customer support,” said Mr. Gajria.
Besides product and customer facing operations, the Hyderabad facility provides supporting functions around enterprise IT, marketing and finance. The headcount it is likely to be around 800 by year end.
Headquartered in South Carolina and listed on NASDAQ, Blackbaud has helped mobilise $100 billion, to the nonprofit sector, in its 45 years existence. While the majority of customers are in North America, it has an established business in Western Europe with a growing presence in Australia. The firm is hopeful of tapping India with many of its U.S. customers having a presence in the country. Blackbaud software helps the nonprofit sector entities digitize and scale to reach, establish and sustain relationships with the donors.
On Artificial Intelligence and its impact, he said Blackbaud has become an AI first company and seeing growing demand for AI products and solutions from the social impact sector. It is in this backdrop, the firm intends to expand AI capabilities across the product stack. On the hiring in Hyderabad, he said while lateral hiring remains the focus, the company recently recruited the first batch of fresh graduates.
