With reports of clashes in key Assembly constituencies in West Bengal surfacing on Monday (April 20, 2026), the incidents have led to security concerns over the free and fair conduct of the elections in the State.

A clash erupted at a rally of Indian Secular Front (ISF) in Bhangar when Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters staged protests and tried to block the rally. The rally was led by sitting MLA and ISF candidate Nawshad Siddique. TMC supporters, who had gathered in large numbers, raised “Joy Bangla” slogan, directed at the ISF rally.
