The family of a 59-year-old road accident victim who was declared brain-dead at Naruvi Hospitals in Vellore, donated his organs, enabling several patients to receive life-saving transplants.

According to a press release, the deceased, Srinivasan, a native of Arakonda in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district and a government employee in New Delhi, sustained severe injuries in a road accident near Chittoor while travelling on a two-wheeler.

Despite intensive treatment by a multidisciplinary medical team, Srinivasan was declared brain-dead on June 16. Following counselling by hospital authorities, his wife Deepa and daughter Vanshika consented to donate his organs.

The organ retrieval was carried out successfully, with one kidney allocated to a private hospital in Chennai and the other retained at Naruvi Hospitals. The liver was transplanted at Naruvi Hospitals, while both corneas were donated to the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

The organ donation process was conducted in the presence of government officials and senior hospital administrators, including Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Vellore, Senthilkumar, Tahsildar Palani, and Anitha Sampath, vice-chairperson, Naruvi Hospitals, the release said.
