As part of an intensive drive against drunk driving, police across Tamil Nadu registered cases against 16,031 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol between June 1 and June 14, 2026.

During the enforcement drive, authorities seized 14,100 vehicles, including 13,299 two-wheelers, 156 three-wheelers, and 645 four-wheelers. The police imposed fines totalling ₹3.13 crore for various traffic violations during the special drive.

Officials said the crackdown was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb drunk driving, improve road safety, and reduce accidents caused by traffic rule violations. The enforcement measures will continue across the State, they added.
