Persistent spells of rain on Sunday left Bengaluru crawling, as several stretches were flooded, causing congestion at multiple locations and junctions. A few areas also witnessed power cuts for hours.

The rains once again exposed the city’s infrastructural shortcomings, with major stretches such as Ballari Road, ITPL Road, and Varthur Road witnessing flooding at multiple points.

A senior police officer from the North Division said that although there were fewer vehicles on the roads owing to the rains, congestion persisted because of the flooding. On Saturday, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) deployed several workers in east Bengaluru to clear drains, yet flooding recurred on Sunday.

Other places that witnessed flooding included Devasandra Junction towards Hosakote, Windsor Manor, Anandapura Junction towards T.C. Palya, Lulu Mall Road towards Majestic, Peenya Flyover towards Tumakuru Road, and Turabarahalli Road towards Siddapura.
