Former MLA of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Balka Suman was arrested by Hyderabad police from Telangana Bhavan on Saturday (May 30, 2026) in connection with a case where he allegedly made remarks during a meeting held at the party headquarters on May 26.

A police team entered Telangana Bhavan and took the former legislator into custody on Saturday afternoon. Police had registered a case against Suman on May 27 following his remarks at the meeting. Since then, the former MLA had been staying at Telangana Bhavan, while Task Force personnel were deployed outside the building. The arrest came after police had maintained a watch outside the premises for the past three days.

Speaking to the media before his arrest, Suman accused the Congress government of targeting Opposition leaders through criminal cases.

As rumours of his arrest circulated earlier in the day, Suman told the media prior to his arrest that he was present at Telangana Bhavan and said he would pursue legal remedies if taken into custody.

His advocate, who arrived at Telangana Bhavan shortly before the arrest, said an anticipatory bail petition had already been filed.

“We have moved for anticipatory bail. The police are deliberately creating a commotion precisely because they are aware of this. We intend to proceed legally, and we have already conveyed our willingness to cooperate with the investigation,” the advocate said.

Shortly after the advocate entered Telangana Bhavan, police arrested Suman and escorted him from the premises. The police have not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the arrest. Further legal proceedings are expected in the case.
