Another key step was taken towards construction of government houses for people from Low-Income Group (LIGs) in 24 Assembly constituencies in Core Urban Region (CURE). To select land parcels for the purpose, Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi inspected vacant plots and dilapidated housing societies in the city limits on Wednesday.

Police quarters in Jiyaguda of Asif Nagar, dilapidated Police Quarters and vacant land in Red Hills of Nampally, VAMBAY colony in Mangar Basti, R&B Colony in Malakpet and vacant land in 2-BHK housing colony in Falaknuma of Golconda. These are spread across Nampally, Bahadurpura and Malakpet Assembly constituencies.

The State Cabinet on May 23, 2026, gave green signal for construction of one lakh low-income group (LIG) houses in 24 Assembly constituencies under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation and Cyberabad Municipal Corporation. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would lay the foundation stone for the construction of one lakh houses in the coming days.

Reiterating the government’s decision three days later, the Housing Minister said that guidelines are in the works and the project is being designed to build one lakh houses in urban core area. He has directed officials to map government lands and dilapidated houses.

Mr. Reddy said that the government has decided to continue allotment of houses to poor who are eligible and do not have their own land next year too.

Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azahruddin, Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala, Housing Corporation’s Managing Director V.P. Gautam and others were present at the inspection.
