Gurmitkal MLA Sharanagowda Kandkur met the Deputy Commissioner of Yadgir and the Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat in the DC’s office in Yadgir on May 25 with a request to ensure proper drinking water supply in villages.

Elaborating on the crisis, he pointed out that Panchayat Development Officers in Gurmitkal had failed to take steps to supply potable drinking water to people.

Highlighting the pathetic condition of roads in rural areas, he said that plying of overloaded trucks had damaged roads. Nothing had been done even after the matter was brought to the notice of local authorities, he alleged.

The MLA also said that people in rural areas are facing power cuts due to the recent spell of rain and winds that caused extensive damage to the electricity supply systems. The GESCOM failed to restore electricity supply even after 24 hours of disruption, he added.

Responding to the MLA, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve and zilla panchayat CEO Lavish Ordia promised to hold a meeting with the officers concerned to address the problems.
