Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that a series of programmes, including seminars, will be organised from September 22 to 29 to highlight the benefits of the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms slated to come into effect from Monday.

Speaking to reporters after paying floral tributes to the statue of Telangana ideologue Konda Lakshman Bapuji on his death anniversary in Karimnagar on Sunday, Mr. Sanjay said the birth and death anniversaries of the great freedom fighter should be observed as a State function across Telangana.

On the GST reforms, the Union Minister said the slashed rate of GST will benefit poor, middle class, farmers and all sections of the society besides boosting domestic consumption. These benefits will be highlighted during the week-long public awareness programmes to be held from September 22, he added.
