The Annamayya district police on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) arrested five members of an inter-district chain-snatching gang, including two women, and seized gold jewellery worth ₹11.62 lakh, four mobile phones and two motorbikes from them.
The Madanapalle sub-division police said the arrests were made near the Yetigadda Shiva temple along the Madanapalle-Tirupati highway, as a follow-up to public complaints over a spate of thefts targeting women. The arrests pertained to six different cases reported in the district.
