The results of the Assembly elections held in four States and a Union Territory on Monday are being seen as an indicator of possible electoral trends in non-BJP-ruled States in the coming years, particularly in Karnataka.

The ruling Congress in Karnataka may face challenges if it fails to contain internal differences, particularly the long-standing power tussle between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, which is seen as affecting he quality of governance.
