As the counting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections is underway, it is evident that the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, has swept all but two of the 16 assembly constituencies in the State’s capital Chennai.

This included the defeat of Chief Minister MK Stalin from Kolathur constituency in the hands of TVK’s VS Babu. This is the first instance of an incumbent CM losing his seat since the defeat of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa from Bargur constituency in 1996.
