A view of the red markings on Thoppur Ghat Road
Thoppur Ghat Road, which witnessed over 200 fatalities in the last three years, has become the State‘s first National Highways stretch to be painted red in patches to help reduce speeds and improve vehicle stability.
Two 300-metre-long stretches of NH 44 have been painted red, in patches measuring 2mtx3mt, with thermoplastic paint. This will enhance visibility and keep drivers alert, said sources in the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
