Head master death case; one arrested

The Bijapur police have arrested a construction contractor for the alleged abetment of the suicide of a school headmaster who took his own life earlier this week and left a note blaming the arrested contractor, as well as an engineer and a department officer. On April 22, 2026, Cherpal village resident Raju Pujari purportedly took his own life in a forest.

A senior police officer said that the initial investigation revealed that the school building construction work was being carried out by the contractor Devashish Mandal through the school management committee, in which approximately 40% of the amount had been paid and a dispute has arisen regarding the remaining payment.
