Fresh protests erupted in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday over the Lieutenant Governor-led administration’s “failure” to make public the magisterial inquiry into the April 1 encounter.

The Army on April 1 claimed to have killed a terrorist in Ganderbal’s Arhama forest area during a cordon and search operation. However, the family claimed that the slain man was “a civilian with no links with militants” and identified him as Raashid Ahmad Mughal, a resident of Chuntwaliwar village of Ganderbal’s Lar. His body was buried at Wadder Payeen graveyard in Baramulla district, at a spot earmarked by the security agencies to bury the militants.
