The Civil Supplies department has issued a memo to the Devikulam Girijan Cooperative Society, which handles ration distribution in Edamalakudy, after a shortage of over 64,000 kg of rice was reported in the Edamalakudy tribal panchayat.

Civil Supplies Officer of Devikulam taluk Sanjaynath R. said the department distributed 60,000 kg of rice to the Societykudy ration shop and 14,000 kg to the Vellavarakkudy ration shop in March following an official directive. The stock was for distribution for two-and-a-half months, anticipating disruption in view of the Pettimudy-Edamalakudy road works.
