Minister directs officials to re-tender delayed civic works in Bengaluru South City Corporation

Minister for Transport and Muzrai Ramalinga Reddy on Saturday directed the Bengaluru South City Corporation to cancel and re-tender civic projects that have not been completed within the stipulated time.

In a review meeting, Mr. Reddy expressed concern that several of the ₹27-crore worth of projects sanctioned for 2024–25 in the BTM Layout constituency had not yet begun. He instructed officials to start all pending works immediately, including the construction of the Anganwadi building at J.D. Mara Slum and N.S. Palya Ward.

The Minister warned that contractors who fail to meet deadlines even after time extensions would face tender cancellation and blacklisting. He also directed that bills be cleared only after verification of GPS-tagged photos and supporting documents.

Mr. Reddy said new tenders for the current year should be issued only after the completion of ongoing works. He reviewed the Lakkasandra School construction and instructed officials to ensure students were not facing any inconvenience.

He told officials to inspect and replace defunct CCTV cameras and revive non-functional skywalks under the PPP model.

Calling for swift clearance of garbage black spots, especially near Silk Board and the Passport Office in Koramangala, Mr. Reddy urged officials to deploy garbage autos regularly and respond to media reports on civic neglect.

He also emphasised comprehensive development of the Madiwala Lake, directing officials to seek additional funds and divert resources from non-essential white-topping works.
