Industries urged to adhere to safety norms: Labour Minister

Minister for Labour and Factories Vasamsetti Subhash on Thursday asked all industries to adhere strictly to safety norms and adopt new technology for effective implementation of safety rules and regulations. He attended as chief guest the 55th National Safety Day celebrations organised in NACL Industries Limited in Arinam Akkivalasa of Etcherla constituency of Srikakulam district. Speaking on the occasion, he asked industries to train workers in following safety norms and in case of accidents how to protect equipment and other workers.

He congratulated NACL plant head Suresh and other senior managers for installing gas detectors, and emergency shutdown system as part of the safety norms. Later the minister visited Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in Pydibhimavaram of Srikakulam. Etcherla MLA N. Eswara Rao urged the Minister to direct all companies to give employment priority to local people. The minister responded positively and assured that the government would give an official direction to all industries to provide employment to local youth on a priority basis.
