After an interval of four months, a private hospital in Kochi witnessed yet another wedding ceremony when 26-year-old Diya G. Prahlad, who was undergoing treatment following a gastro-related surgery, tied the knot with Jithin Jayan at VPS Lakeshore Hospital on Thursday (April 2, 2026). The wedding took place between 10.30 and 11 a.m. at the temple inside the hospital.

The wedding had been planned months in advance. However, a few days ago, Ms. Diya was admitted to the hospital after experiencing stomach pain and required emergency surgery. As the preparations had already been completed, the family decided to go ahead with the ceremony. Since her condition did not allow her to travel, the wedding was held in the hospital, a communication said.

Meanwhile, relatives and friends celebrated the occasion by holding the wedding reception at the Devikulangara Auditorium in Kayamkulam. It was last November that the hospital witnessed a similar event, when Sharon married Avani, a native of Alappuzha, who had met with an accident on her wedding day. The ceremony was held at the emergency department in the hospital.

Along with close family and friends, the hospital management, doctors, and nurses also joined the occasion and stood by Ms. Diya and Mr. Jithin during the ceremony, the communication said.

“Even in such a situation, things went smoothly,” Mr. Jithin said, adding that they received everyone’s love, consideration, and prayers, the hospital said in its communication.
