The Palnadu district administration is planning to introduce a boat service in the Krishna river, connecting Nagarjunasagar to Srisailam as part of developing the region as tourist destination. District Collector Kritika Shukla inspected Nagarjunasagar tourist region on Tuesday.

During her visit, the District Collector reviewed the ongoing development works and assessed the tourism potential of the region. She also visited the Nagarjunakonda Museum, where she examined the historical Buddhist sculptures and artifacts, highlighting the site’s cultural and heritage significance.

As part of efforts to enhance tourist inflow and improve visitor experience, Ms. Shukla issued a series of key directives to officials. She suggested the introduction of a boat service connecting Nagarjunasagar to Srisailam, which is expected to boost inter-destination tourism. She also called for modernisation of rooms at Haritha Resorts to meet current hospitality standards.

Further, the Collector recommended the introduction of small boating facilities and the development of water sports to attract more visitors. She stressed the need to expedite works being carried out under the Swadesh Darshan Challenge-based Destination Development scheme.

Directing officials to complete all tourism-related projects at the earliest, she underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to position Nagarjunasagar as a major tourism hub.

RDO Murali Krishna, District Tourism Officer Naidumma, APTDC DE Kumar, Tahsildar Kiran Kumar and Unit In-charge Mastan were present during the inspection.
