Assam Assembly elections: BJP’s poll manifesto promises UCC, land rights, welfare push
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (March 31, 2026) released its manifesto for the April 9 Assam Assembly elections, promising to work towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code, protecting the land, heritage, and dignity of indigenous people, and pushing its development agenda.
Releasing the 31-point “Sankalp Patra” at the party’s State headquarters in Guwahati, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted what she described as Assam’s transformative change over the last 10 years, which, she said, had fuelled economic growth of the State and the rest of the northeastern region.
