Two persons were killed on the spot after a car allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol crashed into a two-wheeler on a one-way road near the Wakf Board office within the High Grounds Traffic Police Station limits on Saturday night.

The deceased have been identified as Zubair Ahmed, 42, and Abdul Muneer Pasha, 16. The incident occurred late Saturday night.

According to police, the accused driver, Ayyappa, was allegedly driving a Volkswagen car in an inebriated state. He reportedly entered a one-way road from the wrong direction at high speed and rammed head-on into the victims’ two-wheeler.

The impact of the collision was severe, and both riders died on the spot. The High Grounds Traffic Police rushed to the scene and conducted a preliminary inspection. The accused driver was taken into custody, and a medical examination confirmed that he had consumed alcohol at the time of the accident.

A case has been registered against the driver, and further legal action is underway, according to police.
