The Election Commission of India (EC) has directed the Tamil Nadu government to post new Superintendents of Police (SPs) for Kancheepuram, Perambalur, Tenkasi and Thanjavur districts.

In a communication, the ECI directed for posting G. Jawahar, IPS, as the Kancheepuram SP, K. Prabakar, IPS, as the Perambalur SP, G.S.A. Myilvaganan, IPS, as the Tenkasi SP, and E. Sundaravathanam, IPS, as the Thanjavur SP. “The directions of the Commission are to be implemented with immediate effect and a compliance report with respect to the joining of the above officers must be sent by 11.00 a.m. on March 28, 2026,” the communication said.

The EC added that the officers transferred out should not be posted in any poll-related posts till the completion of the election. The general election for all 234 Assembly constituencies is scheduled to be held on April 23.
