Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder Thol. Thirumavalavan on Friday said negotiations had been successfully completed with the DMK to identify eight constituencies, including two general seats, for his party.

The process was “smooth” and he was “happy” after signing the agreement here at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, in Chennai, he said.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mr. Thirumavalavan said: “We are content and the negotiations were smooth. We have got what we wanted. The constituencies which have been allotted to the VCK will be made public tomorrow (Saturday). There are a lot of alliance partners who were asking for what we wanted, and we were asking for what they wanted, but there was no stalemate in the alliance.”

Mr. Thirumavalavan added, “There are no problems. There are more than 10 parties in the alliance. When every party seeks a constituency that the other party also wants, the conclusion of this exercise takes time. There was no stalemate.”

He also said the parties “that want us to lose” had no business worrying about the DMK allotting more seats to a non-recognised party (DMDK) than a recognised party (VCK).
