A software engineer was killed on the spot when a container lorry fell on his car at Iruvaram Cross on the outskirts of Chittoor on the Chittoor–Bengaluru National Highway on Friday (February 13, 2026) morning. The mishap occurred around 8 a.m. today.
According to the police, the deceased, Anudeep (28), a resident of Ramapuram village in Gudipala mandal near Chittoor, was on his way to his work place in Bengaluru when the accident occurred minutes after he left home. The container on the lorry, which was travelling at high speed, suddenly leaned to the right and fell onto the car, crushing it along with Anudeep.
The police deployed an earthmover to clear the debris and restore traffic on the busy highway. A case has been registered, and the lorry driver has been detained.
