Two persons were arrested for possessing 5.5 kg ganja worth ₹2.75 lakh by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills Zone team, along with the Afzalgunj police.

The accused were identified as 26-year-old Guru Pujari, a labourer from Malkangiri district in Odisha, and 24-year-old Sanu Madhi, a labourer currently residing in Borabanda. Police said Guru Pujari was acting as a peddler while Sanu Madhi was involved in selling the substance.

According to officials, the two are from neighbouring villages in Odisha and had planned the operation around 15 days ago after Sanu Madhi informed Guru Pujari about the demand for ganja in Hyderabad, particularly in Borabanda. Sanu Madhi asked him to procure and supply the contraband for sale.

Guru Pujari allegedly contacted a supplier identified as Santosh from Malkangiri, who cultivates ganja in hill areas, and procured 5.5 kg of the substance. He then transported it to Hyderabad to deliver it to Sanu Madhi.

Police seized the contraband along with two mobile phones from their possession. The arrested persons have been handed over to Afzalgunj police for further investigation.
