The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) resumed Cauvery water supply to households in Bengaluru on September 17 morning after completing maintenance works.
Earlier, the BWSSB had announced that the city would face disruptions in Cauvery water supply from September 15 to 17 due to scheduled emergency maintenance of pumping stations under the Cauvery Water Supply Project.
The board had urged citizens to store sufficient water in advance and co-operate during this period, noting that the temporary shutdown would affect all areas dependent on the Cauvery network.
“We completed the work a day ahead of schedule by working overnight to ensure uninterrupted Cauvery water supply. Supply has resumed from September 17 morning,” the BWSSB stated.
According to the BWSSB, the maintenance work was carried out to ensure the smooth functioning and sustained operations of pumping stations and major pipelines under the Cauvery Water Supply Project, enabling uninterrupted drinking water supply to Greater Bengaluru in the long run.
