HYDERABAD

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would move a private member bill in the Assembly for implementation of the six guarantees made by the ruling Congress party before the 2023 elections, said working president of BRS K.T. Rama Rao here on Saturday.

Mr. Rama Rao held a meeting on the issue of moving the private member bill with senior leaders of the party and legal cell functionaries. Former MPs B. Vinod Kumar, R. Chandrashekhar Reddy, MLC D. Sravan, S. Bharat Kumar, former Advocate General B.S. Prasad and others participated in the meeting.

The BRS would move the private member bill with the sole objective of implementation of the guarantees as the ruling party had garnered support of all sections of voters in the name of six guarantees but had betrayed them after coming to power by implementing only a couple of them partially, Mr. Rao said addressing a press conference after the meeting.

He reminded the ruling party that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had signed the file pertaining to the implementation of six guarantees on his first day in office after coming to power. After a week’s gap, the government made the Governor speak about its implementation in the joint address to the legislators, he said.

However, the promises made as part of the six guarantees remained unfulfilled except a few, that too partially, even after 800 days in office by the Congress party, Mr. Rao said and added that the private member bill would be moved in the ongoing budget session.

The BRS leader noted that the N.T. Rama Rao Government (in combined Andhra Pradesh) in the past had adopted/passed a private member bill and had exhibited its commitment to the people. Since the tradition of passing private member bills exists, the Congress government too should continue it, he suggested.

He stated that the BRS was proposing the bill on behalf of farmers, women, students, government employees, unemployed youth and other sections of the society.
