Taking a serious note of the alleged consumption of drugs by Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered that he should stay away from party activities till the matter is examined.
Acting on Mr. Naidu’s instruction, TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao issued a notice to the MP, calling for his written explanation within five days.
Mr. Naidu has reportedly warned that the party will not tolerate such misconduct and far more serious things like taking drugs.
Mr. Naidu has reportedly noted that the TDP has been maintaining a strong public stance against drug abuse and appropriate action will be initiated in the present case, depending on the investigation.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar is accused of being present in a ‘drugs party’ held at Moinabad in Telangana and has reportedly tested positive.
MP denies charge
Meanwhile, in a short video posted on X, Mr. Mahesh denied any wrongdoing and that he would never let down the people of his constituency by indulging in any illegal activity.
He claimed to have attended a dinner with his friends after a long time and did nothing wrong there as was widely reported in the media and social media.
