The supply of commercial LPG cylinders would be prioritised to hospitals, hostels and residential schools, Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H. Muniyappa announced in the Karnataka Legislative Council on March 13. Hotels will have to wait for at least a week by which time supply of LPG cylinders is expected to improve, he added.

LPG gas station in Bengaluru is closed

An LPG station on Nandidurga Road in Bengaluru is closed since March 12 evening.

“I met oil marketing companies (OMCs) representatives again today (Friday). They have informed that adequate stocks are available,” the Minister informed the Council. He said that commercial cylinders will be supplied to hospitals, hostels and to residential schools for preparation of essential food items.

The Minister said, “Whatever commercial LPG cylinders are available in Karnataka will be prioritised. It may take at least one week to supply cylinders to hotels. We have suggested to hotels to utilse electric stove to prepare only those items that are required.”

Mr. Muniyappa said that the deputy commissioners have been told to maintain strict vigil to prevent sale of LPG cylinders in the black market.
