A 21-year-old medical student was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a two-wheeler collided with a tipper truck in Bengaluru on March 11.

The deceased has been identified as Krithika (21), a fourth-year medical student of Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 4.15 p.m. when Krithika was returning home after college, along with her friend on a scooter. The accident took place in front of the college premises.

Police said the scooter was allegedly hit by the tipper truck and skid on the road. While the rider of the scooter fell to the left side, Krithika, who was riding pillion, fell to the right side.

The wheel of the tipper lorry reportedly ran over Krithika, leading to her death on the spot.

The rider, identified as Hamsa, sustained serious injuries. She was admitted to the hospital attached to Rajarajeswari Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Officials from the Kengeri Traffic Police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

The police arrested the driver and seized the truck. A case has been registered and further investigation is on to ascertain the cause of accident.
