Begin road works at the earliest in the city, Minister Mahadevappa instructs officials

Minister in-charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa has instructed officials to take up road works in the city at the earliest.

Chairing a meeting to review road development works in Narasimharaja Assembly segment in Mysuru at Zilla Panchayat premises in the city on Monday, Dr. Mahadevappa said road works had become essential to ease traffic movement in the city, which was growing rapidly.

It may be mentioned here that the residents of areas around Dr. Rajkumar Road road had complained about the deplorable condition of a stretch of the road that has long been neglected by the authorities.

The residents had taken up the matter with area Tanveer Sait, MLA, recently.

Meanwhile, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, said the civic body had taken up road works along various stretches in the city including Dr. Rajkumar Road.

The other roads, where road widening and road improvement works had been taken up include the stretch of Abba Road from Government Guest House to Kalikamba Temple, the stretches of Bengaluru–Nilgiri Road from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle to Fountain Circle, and from Five Lights Circle towards the Suburban bus stand, stretch of Male Mahadeshwara Road from Gopalagowda Hospital Circle to Buddha Circle, stretch of Chamundi Vihar Stadium Road from Superintendent of Police office Circle to Gopalagowda Hospital Circle, stretch of Pulakeshi Road from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle to Ashoka Road and the stretch of Hyder Ali Road from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle to Aziz Sait Double Road.

Dr. Mahadevappa, who directed officials to take up the required road widening works immediately, instructed them to obtain No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the concerned departments by writing to them regarding the land required for road widening, and to commence the works. 

In areas involving private land, he asked the officials to acquire the land as per rules by providing Transferable Development Rights (TDR).

Mr. Sait, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Yukesh Kumar, Karnataka Police Academy director Vishnuvardhan, and officials from different departments were also present at the meeting.
