Former Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao on Wednesday lambasted the State government, alleging that it has failed to fulfil its promises to farmers and is diverting public funds toward luxuries and large-scale projects instead of support to the poor farming community.

In a press release, Mr. Harish Rao criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for the non-release of funds for the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He recalled the Chief Minister’s comments at a public meeting in Miryalaguda on February 4, where Mr. Revanth Reddy reportedly assured that Rythu Bharosa amounts would be deposited as soon as the municipal elections were over.

“Even though ten days have passed since the model code of conduct expired, there is no sign of Rythu Bharosa,” he said. He added that the issue was not discussed in the recent cabinet meeting either, calling it proof that the government was never serious about honouring its commitment.

The BRS leader accused the Congress of making a mockery of the Rythu Bharosa scheme for two seasons and said that the pre-election promise of providing ₹15,000 per acre had turned into a tool for political deception.

Criticising the government’s financial decisions, Mr. Harish Rao questioned how funds amounting to thousands of crores were being allocated for projects such as Musi River beautification, demolition and redevelopment around the riverbanks, new parks, land acquisition for the proposed Fourth City, and extensive road works, while citing a shortage of funds to support farmers.

He alleged that the government had already paid ₹25,000 crore in commissions to big contractors in the current financial year. The BRS senior MLA also slammed the Chief Minister’s proposed camp office in Jubilee Hills.
