The Begumpet police arrested two habitual offenders in connection with a house break-in and theft case, recovering stolen gold ornaments, mobile phones and cash collectively valued at about ₹40 lakh.

The accused have been identified as 25-year-old Bisayi Pradeep, a private employee residing at a boys’ hostel in Prakash Nagar, and 32-year-old Edla Praveen Kumar, a labourer residing in Shaikpet. Police said both have previous involvement in property offence cases registered at Begumpet and Film Nagar police stations respectively.

According to the police, the case was registered on February 16 based on a complaint by M. Anuradha, 60, a resident of an apartment in Begumpet. “She had locked her flat on February 15 around 12.45 p.m. to attend a family function in Kavadiguda. The following morning, neighbours and her domestic worker informed her that the main gate lock had been broken and the door was open. On returning home around 11.30 a.m., she found the house ransacked and the almirah broken,” said an officer from the Begumpet police.

Gold earrings, rings, chains, silver ornaments and ₹60,000 in cash were reported stolen.

On February 21, the Begumpet crime team apprehended the two accused. Police recovered 235 grams of gold ornaments pertaining to the case, along with ₹65,000 in cash.

Police have advised residents to ensure proper locking of doors and windows before leaving home, avoid indicating absence by locking gates from outside, maintain functional CCTV cameras and lighting in common areas, and promptly report suspicious activity to the police.
