Chikkamagaluru police took three people into custody on February 19 on the charge of moral policing.

The accused allegedly stopped a boy and a girl, belonging to different communities, while they were returning from school on a bike, and questioned them. After receiving information about the incident, Chikkamagaluru police registered a case, based on a complaint filed by the boy’s family, and arrested the accused — Nayaz, Tabrez and Haneef.

Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Dayama told the media that the district police would take action against those engaged in moral policing. “Two persons threatened the minor children. Besides that, a few more people intervened in the issue. There was no assault,” the SP said.
