Highlighting the major allocations and policy directions in the ₹3.32 lakh crore budget for 2026–27 presented recently, members in the Assembly lauded the government for its well-conceived budgetary provisions and forward-looking vision reflected in the comprehensive planning, on Tuesday (February 17, 2026).

Amadalavalasa MLA Koona Ravi Kumar slammed the previous YSRCP government, alleging that it had derailed the governance and became synonymous with exploitation. He said that the TDP-led coalition government, that inherited ₹9,75,000 crore in debt and ₹1,35,000 crore in pending liabilities, gave top priority to SC, ST and BC welfare.

MLA K. Murali Mohan from Puthalapadu in Chittoor district said that the credit for allocation of significant funds to mango farmers goes to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Citing increasing funding to transform Rayalaseema into a horticulture hub, he said multiple schemes were introduced to ensure inclusive development.

Former Minister Prathipati Pullarao said that the State was moving towards long-term growth and development. He said farmers were being encouraged and supported and old-age pensions had been increased to ₹4,000 per month, which cost around ₹27,000 crore annually to the State exchequer.

Adireddy Srinivas from Rajamahendravaram described the budget as the foundation for a State’s future. He said allocation of ₹6,000 crore for Amaravati project reflected the seriousness of the government to develop the new capital with global standards.

MLA Lokam Madhavi from Nellimarla in Vizianagaram district referred to the ‘Palle Panduga’ initiative for laying roads in villages and said allocations across departments were satisfactory.

Member B.V. Jaya Nageswara Reddy from Emmiganur criticised the Opposition members for showing scant regard for the Assembly proceedings. Calling it a ‘People’s Budget”, she said allocation for irrigation projects was thoughtful.

P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu), MLA from Visakhapatnam West, said the State was moving from destruction towards development. He said the rapid development of Hyderabad city in the past reflected the Chief Minister’s vision and emphasised the need to bring companies to the State to generate employment for the youth.

Kandula Narayana Reddy from Markapuram accused the YCP of weakening the agriculture sector, while MLA V.M. Thomas from Gangadhara Nellore suggested establishment of IVF and test tube centres in villages as part of populatin policy, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision.
