Riding high on the development plank, the ruling Congress pulled off a clean sweep in Dharmapuri municipal election winning all the 15 wards in the civic body.

The civic body in the famous temple town of Dharmapuri in Jagtial district delivered a decisive mandate in favour of the Congress much to the delight of the rank and file of the ruling party.

Congress circles claim the party’s emphatic victory in Dharmapuri as a strong endorsement of the State government’s governance model.

Despite the no-holds-barred campaign by former minister Koppula Eshwar, the BRS failed to secure even a single ward in Dharmapuri municipality.

Political analysts credit the massive scale of Congress victory in Dharmapuri to the vigorous election campaign by Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, who represents Dharmapuri constituency in the Assembly.

The Congress election campaign centred around the State government’s welfare schemes, including women-centric programmes and development initiatives.

Elated over the party’s clean sweep in Dharmapuri municipality, Mr. Laxman thanked voters for their trust and promised accelerated development of the temple town.
