Kanpur Police on Monday (February 9, 2026) booked pan masala baron K.K. Mishra’s son, Shivam Mishra, in a case of overspeeding of a Lamborghini sports car that rammed into pedestrians and two-wheelers on the VIP Road in Kanpur’s upscale Gwaltoli area, injuring six persons and triggering local outrage.

The First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Gwaltoli police station under Sections 125 (a & b) (rash or negligent acts endangering human life or personal safety), 281 (rash or negligent driving/riding on a public way that endangers human life or personal safety), and 324 (4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

“Necessary action is being taken regarding the road accident that occurred on February 8, 2026, within the jurisdiction of the Gwaltoli police station. The accident occurred with a Lamborghini car. The vehicle struck a parked motorcycle, causing it to be crushed under the vehicle. The motorcycle belonged to a man named Taufiq, who suffered injuries in the arms and legs in the accident. He was taken to a hospital for first aid and released after treatment. The victim came to the police station and submitted a petition, based on which an FIR has been registered. Initially, the case was registered based on the vehicle’s description, as the driver’s name was unknown. The vehicle has been seized,” said Raghubir Lal, Police Commissioner, Kanpur Nagar.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was being driven by Shivam Mishra, son of K.K. Mishra. Following the accident, the driver was extricated from the vehicle by two bouncers present in the vehicle. It was reported that the driver had a medical issue and was also sent for first aid. Now that the driver’s identity had been established, legal action was being taken against him. The vehicle was in police custody and an investigating officer was investigating all aspects. The law applied equally to all. There would be no partiality, and strict action would be taken against those found guilty. If anyone attempted to conceal or mislead facts, legal action would be taken against them as well, said Mr. Raghubir Lal.

At least six persons were injured on Sunday (February 8, 2026) after a speeding Lamborghini, allegedly driven by Shivam, rammed into pedestrians and two-wheelers on the VIP Road in Kanpur’s upscale Gwaltoli area. The car first hit an autorickshaw and then crashed into a parked motorcycle, flinging its rider nearly 10 feet into the air. After the incident, angry locals gathered at the spot and surrounded the car, the locals alleged that private bouncers accompanying the accused tried to push back the crowd and behaved aggressively, escalating tensions.
