Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday (June 16, 2026) said that he has directed the Agriculture department officials to ensure that seeds of seven varieties of fine rice, for which the State Government is awarding ₹500 per quintal bonus, should be kept ready for farmers.

“These seeds should be provided at subsidised prices and they should be made available at Rythu Vedikas across the State. Steps should be taken to prepare data of farmers preferring cultivation of fine rice,” he said, adding the Agriculture “department should have thorough understanding of the crop yields.”

The CM said that he wanted the officials concerned to leverage technology in agriculture and extensively use the pilot project initiated in Dammapeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, promoting sustainable data driven farming practices in other places.

Officials could consider utilising Artificial Intelligence in farming practices and nominate the Agriculture University as nodal agency for development and deployment of technology in agriculture, he added.

The Agriculture department, Civil Supplies department and Agriculture University should work in close coordination from the sowing stage to procurement to help farmers, he said.

“Steps should be initiated to bring down losses of Markfed as also for strengthening Oilfed while a mobile application could be developed enabling farmers to get details of all kinds of fertilisers available. Farmers booking fertilisers through the App should be supplied the commodity through respective Rythu Vedikas and the additional collectors should be given the responsibility of urea distribution in their jurisdiction,” Mr. Reddy said.

Further, he emphasised that the concerned officials should be in constant touch with the Central Government on urea and fertiliser allocation to the State. “Pressure should be mounted on the Centre to supply entire fertilisers manufactured in the Ramagundam unit to Telangana. The district collectors should convene meetings with MPs of different political parties and explain them about the situation in the agriculture sector,” he said.
