Habitual offenders living in and around the North-East Division will be placed under strict surveillance, with jurisdictional police instructed to closely monitor their movements and initiate stringent deterrent action in case of any violations.

The directions were issued during a crime review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East Division) G.K. Mithun Kumar. The meeting was attended by all Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), inspectors, and crime sub-inspectors of the division.

During the meeting, senior officers reviewed the implementation of crime-prevention measures, expeditious disposal of cases at the investigation stage, and the overall progress of investigative work. Emphasis was laid on improving both the speed and quality of operational performance.

Key discussions focused on the monitoring of habitual and Modus Operandi offenders. The officers were directed to maintain continuous surveillance on repeat offenders, analyse their movements, and take appropriate preventive and deterrent measures.

The effective use of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal for tracing lost and stolen mobile phones was also stressed. The officers were instructed to expedite tracing efforts and create awareness among the public about the portal.

Special instructions were issued for the speedy disposal of pending investigation-stage cases within stipulated timelines, with directions to submit reports to courts without delay while maintaining the quality of investigations and legal procedures.

Cases relating to women and children were directed to be taken up on priority. The officers were instructed to ensure prompt disposal of such sensitive cases and provide necessary protection, assistance, and support to the victims.

The meeting also stressed the importance of conducting regular sub-beat level meetings to collect information on local issues, public grievances, and emerging crime trends, followed by suitable remedial action.

To enhance public confidence, officers were instructed to conduct area domination parades regularly in crime-prone areas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, all officers were directed to work in close coordination and cooperation to strengthen public safety, improve law enforcement efficiency, and further reinforce crime-prevention measures.
