The United Teachers’ Federation (UTF) State Committee on Sunday (January 25) called upon teachers, parents and the community to work collectively to enroll all eligible children, especially those facing difficulties in accessing education, into government schools, with the aim of strengthening and protecting the government education system.

Later, speaking to reporters, federation State president N. Venkateshwarlu and general secretary K.S.S. Prasad said government schoolteachers were committed to providing education that aligns with societal needs while nurturing responsible citizenship.

They said unlike in the past, State schools today were equipped with improved infrastructure and facilities, all provided by the government, creating ample opportunities for students to grow into capable and responsible citizens. They urged teachers to ensure maximum enrolment in government schools from February 2026 for the forthcoming academic year and underlined that the survival of government schools ensures the existence of teachers, protection of their rights and the strength of teacher associations.

The federation leaders announced plans to launch a statewide enrolment and awareness campaign from February, in coordination with teachers and public organisations, aimed at protecting government schools and preserving village schools. As part of this initiative, regional meetings and enrolment drives will be conducted across the State on February 1 and 8, they said.

The meeting was attended by UTF State vice-presidents K. Suresh Kumar and A.N. Kusuma Kumari, treasurer Reddy Mohan Rao, State secretaries B. Lakshmiraja, S.P. Manohar Kumar, S. Murali Mohan Rao, S.S. Naidu, N. Navakoteswara Rao, Uma Maheshwara Rao, B. Subhashini, G.V. Ramana, S. Kishore Kumar, S. Jyothi Basu, V. Srilakshmi, S. Jayachandra Reddy, T.V. Chakravarti, P. Jayakar, S. Jabir, S. Ravi, K. Srinivas Rao, N. Devendramma and State Publications Committee chairperson Y. Hanumanth Rao, among others.
