Andhra Pradesh Government Chief Secretary and Special CS (Energy) K. Vijayanand directed the AP-Capital Region Development Authority (AP-CRDA) and AP-Transco to expedite the re-routing of existing 400 kV and 220 kV Extra High Tension (EHT) transmission lines passing through the core capital area of Amaravati keeping the fast-paced construction works in the capital city.

Reviewing the progress of the works at his camp office here on Saturday (January 24), Mr. Vijayanand instructed the officials to speed up the execution of works in a planned and systematic manner in strictly adherence to the approved schedules and called for constant updates. Issues that might be encountered during execution should be immediately discussed and resolved through inter-departmental coordination.

He reiterated that the government was giving special priority to Amaravati development projects and directed the officials to ensure continuous field-level monitoring, close coordination and timely completion of the re-routing works to support the development of the capital city.

Officials explained that the re-routing of the 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines was being taken up as a deposit-funded work in line with the approved planning framework of CRDA following consultations with all stakeholders. The revised alignment has been planned to bypass core development zones and align with designated green buffers and major arterial road corridors in accordance with the master plan.

CRDA Commissioner K. Kannababu, AP-Transco Joint Managing Director G. Surya Sai Praveenchand, Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation Limited MD S.V.R. Srinivas, APCPDCL CMD P. Pulla Reddy, AP-Transco directors J.V. Rao and A.K.V. Bhaskar, CPDCL Director Murali Krishna Yadav and Chief Engineer Sudheevan Kumar were among those present.
