The four were reported missing on January 18 near the canal. They had left home at Arebilachi on two bikes to wash clothes. It is suspected that one of them drowned in the canal initially which prompted the others to jump into water to rescue their kin, resulting in all four drowning.

The local police, SDRF team and Fire and Emergency Services staff have been making efforts to find the missing persons since January 18 evening. Expert swimmers were called in. So far, two bodies have been found. The search for two more is on.
