Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar upon his arrival at Mysuru airport.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday clarified that there was no message from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, when they met briefly at Mysuru, and he only asked the State government to “continue the good work.”

Mr. Gandhi had met both Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar briefly on his way to Ooty on Tuesday.

Mr. Shivakumar, also KPCC president, said, “We have neither given any message to any one nor have we got any message from anyone. Our leaders have told us to continue the good work we are doing. I updated him about the programmes we are doing about MGNREGA. We also discussed politics within the State BJP.”

Downplaying speculations regarding his social media post, which read “Efforts may fail, but prayers won’t”, linking it to his conversation with Mr. Gandhi, he said, “I am not saying this for the first time. I said this while sharing my life experiences with the entrepreneurs at the Udyami Vokkaliga programme.” Asked if he would go to Delhi, he said he would travel to Delhi on January 16.
