Emphasising that the construction sector plays a transformative role in shaping the State’s future, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that construction is not merely about contracts but about building the State itself.

He was addressing the National Managing Committee and General Council Meeting (2025-26) of the Builders’ Association of India, held under the association’s aegis in Hyderabad, on Saturday.

The meeting witnessed participation from representatives of the Builders’ Association and construction industry experts from across the country. Deliberations were held on the growth of the construction sector, expansion of infrastructure, adoption of modern technologies, and enhancement of quality standards.

The Minister said the State government was according top priority to infrastructure development under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, working with the slogan of Vision 2047. “We are moving ahead with a long-term vision for accelerated development, with infrastructure as the backbone of progress,” he said.

He revealed that projects worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore are currently underway in the Roads and Buildings Department. These include Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) projects, the Regional Ring Road, expansion of national highways and State highways, flyovers, and railway over-bridges.

Describing the Regional Ring Road as a game-changer for Telangana’s future, he said it would not only ease traffic congestion around Hyderabad but also open up new avenues of development in surrounding districts and create economic corridors.

“These projects are not merely about concrete and bitumen. They generate jobs for the youth, and open new prospects for businesses. They strengthen the State’s economy,” he said.

The Minister outlined the government’s plan to improve rural road connectivity to attract industries to remote areas. “Our goal is to promote employment and self-employment opportunities for youth by developing strong infrastructure in rural Telangana,” he added.

Calling upon builders to partner with the government in the State’s development journey, he said, “Governments may design plans, allocate budgets and announce projects. But it is you who give life to those plans. You build the State,” he said.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by contractors, including rising raw material costs and financial pressures, he said the government considers them development partners and is open to suggestions and discussions to resolve issues.

The meeting was attended by BAI national president Rajendra Singh Kamboj, vice-presidents D.V.N. Reddy and S.N. Reddy, organising committee members.
