The 16th edition of the Calicut Half Marathon (CHM), organised by the students of Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K), will be held on February 8 at Kozhikode beach.

The 2026 edition will be conducted under the theme ‘Run to Remember – Alzheimer’s and Dementia Awareness,’ with the objective of promoting awareness about cognitive health and fostering informed conversations around Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, caregiving, and the importance of community support.

The official press launch of the CHM was held on Saturday (January 10, 2026) at the Calicut Press Club, in the presence of P. Nikhil, president, Kozhikode District Sports Council, Anandakuttan B. Unnithan, dean (Programmes), IIM-K, Rachappa Shette, chair – Student Affairs, IIM-K, and VKC Razak, managing director, India’s VKC.

Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM-K, who was not present at the press conference, congratulated the student-led event. “The CHM exemplifies the spirit of IIM-K, where leadership, social responsibility, and community engagement come together seamlessly. That this iconic event has been conceptualised and sustained by students for over a decade is a matter of immense pride,” Mr. Chatterjee said.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Nikhil noted that the CHM had transcended its origins as a student initiative to become a cherished civic legacy.

During the launch, the Calicut Marathon Committee unveiled the official website, along with the logo and jersey for the 16th edition. The event will feature three race categories: 21-km half marathon (timed), 10-km run (timed) and 3-km dream run (non-timed).The registration fee is ₹549 for the 21-km and 10-km races, and ₹299 for the 3-km dream run. The marathon will carry total cash prizes worth ₹4 lakh. India’s VKC is a supporting partner.
