A quick-commerce delivery executive was allegedly assaulted by two men following a minor accident at Kaggadasapura in east Bengaluru on January 4. Although the victim did not file a complaint, the incident came to light after a social media user shared a video of the assault.

The Baiyappanahalli police took suo motu cognisance of the case as the video began circulating widely and identified the victim as Deepak Kumar.

According to the police, Deepak had picked up an order from the Zepto godown located at 29th Cross in Kaggadasapura and had set out for delivery. A few metres ahead, when Kumar slowed down his scooter, two men riding a scooter approached from the opposite direction and applied sudden brakes to avoid crashing into his vehicle, following which both fell to the ground.

Infuriated by the incident, the duo allegedly assaulted Kumar. They reportedly hit him with their helmets, punched him in the face and repeatedly kicked him. Despite the public intervening and attempting to stop the assault, the accused allegedly continued to hit the delivery executive while he was lying on the ground, the police said.

However, a middle-aged man intervened and slapped one of the accused, prompting both to flee from the scene. The video of the assault later surfaced on Facebook and went viral, triggering public outrage. An investigator said a manhunt has been launched to trace and arrest the accused.
