Telangana Government has accelerated steps to deploy infrastructure and equipment in the Government run hospitals and medical institutions in a big way.

Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha told the Legislative Assembly that 485 new ventilators worth ₹58 crore were under procurement and they would be installed in different hospitals before February end. The Government made assessment of requisite equipment in tertiary hospitals in line with the norms of National Medical Council and they were under procurement stage.

Eight new MRI machines

Accordingly, steps were initiated to procure eight new MRI machines with ₹192 crore for installation in six different hospitals across the State in addition to Osmania and Gandhi hospitals before the financial year end. Eight CT machines worth ₹60 crore were also scheduled for installation by the same period. An additional LINAC machine worth ₹32 crore for treatment of cancer patients and Brachytherapy machines worth ₹8 crore were under procurement for NIMS where equipment worth ₹18 crore had been installed in the neurosurgery department in 2025. This was in addition to 15 ventilators which were under procurement stage.

Replying to queries during the Question Hour in Assembly on Monday (January 5, 2026), he said there were 38,000 beds in the Government run institutions across the State and putting in place necessary equipment in these hospitals was being taken up on priority. The Government had identified 15 equipments for deployment in different hospitals depending on the pressure on them.

The Government had deployed several ambulances in different areas in the past two years bringing down the emergency response time from 16 minutes to 11. Steps like purchase of additional ambulances had been initiated to see that the response time comes to below 10 minutes. The Government at the same time was promoting referral system to ensure that 90% of the cases were treated at the district level itself.

73 dialysis centres in addition to 105

The Government had sanctioned 73 more dialysis centres in different parts of the State in addition to the 105 functioning at present to see that distance between two dialysis centres was less than 25 km.
