A private sleeper bus heading towards Mysuru from Hyderabad crashed into a toll booth in Devanahalli in the early hours of Friday.

Five persons, including the bus driver, were injured and were said to be out of danger.

The Madhya Pradesh-registered sleeper coach bus of Tranz India Travels was heading towards Mysuru from Hyderabad. The driver was speeding and did not notice the toll booth at Kannamangala, the second toll booth on the Airport Expressway, and crashed into it. The front and right portion of the bus suffered major damages.

The injured have been identified as Pradeep, 25, from Mysuru, Akanksha, 23, and Narasimha Rao, 50, from Telangana, Harshita, 25, from Hassan, and the bus driver Irfan Ali, 28, from Bengaluru.

A senior traffic official said that the bus driver was reportedly speeding and they suspected that he might have been drowsy, which led to the accident.

Meanwhile, local residents have raised demands to demolish the toll booth at Kannamangala, which has not been in use for at least two years now, as it has become a safety concern.
